Gut Journal (Poop Diary) is published by Cupkiki LLC. Your logs, notes, photos and health readings stay on your device. We, the developer, do not run servers and never receive them. The free version shows ads from Google AdMob, and purchases are handled through RevenueCat. Those services collect some technical data, as explained below. Your logs and health data are never shared with them.
When you use Gut Journal, you may enter bowel movement logs (Bristol scale type, color, amount, time), mood and food tracking data, optional photos, pet health tracking data and notes. This information is stored only on your device.
With your permission, the App reads water, dietary fiber, sleep, steps and active energy / exercise data from Apple Health (iOS) or Health Connect (Android) and shows it next to your logs. This health data is read and used only on your device. It is not sent to us (we run no servers), to advertising networks, to RevenueCat or to any other third party, and it is never used for advertising. Starting with version 1.0.8, the App does not write any data to Apple Health or Health Connect (earlier versions saved your daily mood rating there). You can turn this off at any time in the App's Settings or in the Health / Health Connect app.
If you use the Toilet Finder feature, the App asks for your device location to find nearby restrooms. Your location is sent to third-party services to search for nearby facilities and to display the map (see Third-Party Services). We do not store your location, and it is only used while you are actively using the Toilet Finder. You can choose not to use this feature.
We, the developer, do not run servers and never receive your logs, notes, photos or health data. There is no account, so we do not collect your name, email or contact details. We do not sell your data. The third-party services built into the App (Google AdMob for ads and RevenueCat for purchases) do collect some technical data, such as device identifiers and purchase records, as described under Third-Party Services.
Your logs, notes, photos and health readings are stored locally on your device. We do not operate servers, databases or cloud storage. This data leaves your device only if you choose to export it, create a backup file, or share it.
Backup and export files you create contain your journal data (backups can include your photos). You decide where to save or send these files.
On iPhone, if you back up your device with iCloud or a computer, App data may be included in that device backup, which is handled by Apple. On Android, starting with version 1.0.8, the App opts out of Google's automatic app-data backup.
The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, Google may collect your device's advertising identifier, your IP address (and approximate location derived from it) and how you interact with ads. Starting with version 1.0.8: in regions that require it (such as the EEA and UK), we ask for your consent first using Google's consent form, and on iOS, ads are personalized only if you allow tracking in Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt; otherwise you get non-personalized ads. Your logs and health data are never shared with AdMob. Premium subscribers do not see ads. Learn more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
We use RevenueCat to handle in-app purchases and subscriptions. RevenueCat receives a random app user ID, basic device information and your purchase history from the App Store or Google Play, so Premium and add-ons can be unlocked and restored. We never see your payment details, and RevenueCat does not receive your logs or health data. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
The Toilet Finder uses the Refuge Restrooms API and the OpenStreetMap Overpass API to find nearby restrooms. When you search, your approximate location is sent to these services. They are independent services with their own privacy policies.
Maps in the Toilet Finder are displayed by Apple Maps (iOS), Google Maps (Android), or AMap in mainland China. These providers receive requests for the map area being shown, which can reveal the general area you are viewing. Each provider has its own privacy policy.
Because your journal data is stored on your device, you are in control of it. You can view, export (Premium), or delete individual entries. To erase everything, use Settings > Delete All My Data, or uninstall the App.
Purchase records held by RevenueCat are linked only to a random app user ID. If you would like help with these records, contact us and include the ID shown under Settings > Copy User ID.
Photos taken within the App are stored locally on your device. If you turn on saving to your photo library in Settings, the App also adds a copy to your library. This is add-only access, and the App never reads your existing photos. Photos are never uploaded to any server by us.
Gut Journal Premium is an auto-renewing subscription (monthly or yearly). The yearly plan may include a free trial for eligible new subscribers, and the purchase screen shows the exact length and price before you confirm. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel them in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Purchases are processed by Apple or Google; we use RevenueCat to check which purchases are active.
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Users must confirm they are 13 or older before using the App, and, starting with version 1.0.8, consent and tracking prompts are only shown after that confirmation.
Gut Journal is a personal tracking tool. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition, and nothing in the App is medical advice. Talk to your doctor or veterinarian about any health concerns.
We may update this policy when the App changes. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, mention them in the App's release notes.
